Brief Curriculum Vitae

is Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Pisa. He graduated from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, in Electrical Engineering with distinction in 1997 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark in 2003. He has been engaged in several national projects (MIMONet, COLTIV@AMI, FuorisuoloSmart, AGRITECH), an EU-project (iguessMed), and an ESA project (TESHEALTH).

Dr. Kocian is IEEE Senior Member('24) as well as EAI Fellow('22). He is Associate Editor of the academic journal IEEE Access (since 2025) and also member of the Editorial Board of Stats (since 2019), Signals (since 2020) and Artificial Intelligence and Applications (since 2022).

He is coauthor of 50+ publications in international, peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and book chapter. On top of that, he holds 4 patents.
