Brief Curriculum Vitae

Alexander Kocian is Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Pisa. He graduated with distinction in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, in 1997, and obtained his Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark, in 2003. He was a faculty member at Aalborg University until 2005, and then a Reader at the Muscat, Oman extension center of the Birla Institute of Technology until 2008. He has been involved in several national projects (MIMONet, COLTIV@MI, FuorisuoloSmart, AGRITECH), an EU project (iGuessMed), and an ESA project (TESHEALTH). He also served as General Chair of the EAI 2024 Conference on Intelligent Transport Systems.

Dr. Kocian is an IEEE Senior Member and an EAI Fellow. He is an Associate Editor of the academic journal IEEE Access and is also member of the Editorial Board of mdpi Stats and mdpi Signals.

He is coauthor of 50+ publications in international peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and book chapters. Moreover, he holds 4 patents.
