Oracle9i Application Server Administrator's Guide Release 2 (9.0.2) Part Number A92171-02 |
|
The metadata repository, which is installed as part of every infrastructure installation, is an Oracle9i Enterprise Edition database that is pre-seeded with schemas to support Oracle9iAS components and features.
During installation, most metadata repository schemas are assigned randomized passwords and components are configured to access schemas using these passwords. If you want to change the password for any of these schemas, you must do so with the Enterprise Manager Web site. This ensures that the change is registered with the component as well as in the metadata repository.

A few schemas are assigned known passwords so that users can manually access them. You can change their passwords directly in the metadata repository using your preferred method, such as the SQL*Plus ALTER USER command.
Table C-1 lists each metadata repository schema that is used by an Oracle9iAS component or feature, provides its tablespace name, and indicates whether the password should be changed using the Enterprise Manager Web site, or directly in the metadata repository using your preferred method.
