This illustration depicts the various layers of stack communication used in a Web client connection. On the client side, from the top down, the stack is constructed with the following layers:

• Web Browser
• Presentation - HTTP or FTP
• Network Protocol - TCP/IP

On the server side, from the top down, the stack is constructed with the following layers:

• RDBMS and Oracle XML DB
• Presentation - IIOP or HTTP
• TCP/IP Oracle Protocol Support
• Network Protocol - TCP/IP
