This illustration describes an overview of Syndication Server administrative tasks that can be performed using the Syndication Server Manager for Oracle Enterprise Manager and the relationship among these tasks. These tasks include:
- Manage subscribers (applications)
- Manage subscriptions
- Manage content providers
- Manage schedulers
- Manage gateway contextx
- Manage global properties
- Manage events
- Manage content provider execution properties
In addition, there are some non-administrative tasks, such as creating several external packages, or XML files. These packages include the content provider package, which is required for registering a content provider. Another required package is the subscriber package, which is required for registering a subscriber application.
In addition, there are some non-administrative tasks shown that occur at runtime, such as creating subscriptions and schedulers.
An application initiates a subscription by submitting a subscription request. A subscription is the result of an agreement between a content provider and a subscriber application. If the agreement includes a push delivery mode of content, then a scheduler instance is created by the scheduler manager. Finally, the application is returned a subscription response, as part of the negotiated subscription agreement.
