Technologies and innovation for sustainable management of Agriculture, Environment and Biodiversity (Ti4AAB)
Calci Charterhouse (Pisa) - Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa
7-8 July 2016
Information technologies have recently accelerated a process of convergence among different disciplines that use computer science and engineering as a common denominator for the acquisition and analysis of data relating to natural resource management and optimization, as well as territorial and economic factors. The recent developments of the Internet of Things (IoT) are used in support of a sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture, in the monitoring and control of agricultural production.
Robotics, sensor networks and geographical information systems support the change and the innovation in modern Agriculture.
Sustainable practices for agriculture and bioremediation techniques can be applied more effectively through the widespread use of information technologies, as data on the environment from interconnected systems, allow targeted application for the treatment of soil and remediation of contaminated sites. Studies about air pollution and other natural resources make possible to assess the quality of the environment for human health.
Re-use of resources is the core principle for bio-sustainability so that we do not create undue pressure on ecosystems, on land, on forest resources and water, air and soil quality.
Information technology is changing biodiversity management too. The growing availability of spatial information, deriving from Internet of things sensing technology, now allows explorative data analysis and modeling of habitats and species dynamics, as well as their distribution on a land. Interesting applications and research about environmental parameters and analysis of climate change, even on a large scale, are feasible.
The conference aims to present the latest advances and developments of computer applications applied to the Environment, Agriculture and biodiversity. The goal is an event specifically targeted for the integration of sustainability aspects in a multidisciplinary approach.
Examples of successful applications, projects and real implementations will be accepted in order to contribute to the communication and knowledge transfer involving techniques and approaches to sustainability for companies and organizations, whose mission is to promote healthier environment.
Free entry.
Topics include, but are not limited, to the following areas of research and experimentation:
- to be defined...
Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract that briefly describe the work. The abstract should highlight the relevance of the contribution within the theme of sustainability for the Environment and Agriculture. Contributions must have a length of one / maximum two pages and be in PDF format. Abstract submission must be made by EasyChair. Contributions will be subject to a review process to ensure its consistency with the objectives and themes of the conference. Acceptance of contributions is subject to the number of seats and spaces limit of the Natural History Museum. The submission of a contribution implies that each accepted conference contribution must have at least one author registered, if the abstract is designated as "accepted" in the final program.
The organizers are also exploring the possibility to organize a special issue for a selection of accepted papers.
Abstracts should be submitted electronically via EasyChair (online paper submission system)
Anyone who wishes to attend the conference must register via this website.
